COLLABORATION IN CREATING A HORTATORY TEXT "SOCIAL CASTE IN FAVOURITE SCHOOLS"
Social Caste in Favourite Schools
Schools are
supposed to be places where all students are treated equally regardless of
their social, economic or cultural backgrounds. But the reality is that social
caste still exists in the school environment today. This should receive serious
attention from various parties.
Social
caste in schools can be seen from the differences in treatment and
opportunities received by students due to their socioeconomic status. Students
from families with high social status tend to get more attention, both from
teachers and peers. If students from families with low social status often feel
neglected and marginalized. It is a social law that the rich are always valued.
Even when there are problems between rich and poor students, it is the poor who
are ignored. Because the rich have more power. Even the teachers, if given
"bribe" money by the rich, are willing. This world only favors the
rich.
In the
past, rankings were always written on report cards. Ranking has created a caste
in the class. There is a layer of the smart group that is always respected and
the stupid one who is always marginalized. Whereas all students have their own
intelligence that has been given by God.
Apart from
wealth, power is also a factor that causes social caste. With power, a person
can control people and their environment. Students who have power at school if
they abuse their position will be arbitrary to their subordinates. Even if the
subordinates make a small mistake, it will be exaggerated by the Ruler.
Eliminating social caste in schools requires commitment and concerted efforts from various parties. Schools must play an active role in creating a learning environment where all students feel valued and supported to develop their potential. In addition, the participation of the community, especially parents, is very important in instilling the values of equality and respect for differences in the family environment. With joint efforts, it is hoped that social castes in schools can be eliminated, so that every student can learn together without being limited by their social background.
