ARGUMENTATIVE TEXT 1 : SWEET PROMISES OF THE CANDIDATES REALIZED

Thesis:

Elections are a democratic process of directly electing representatives or government officials by the citizens of a country. In 2024, the whole world witnessed a fierce activity that even different countries could witness. This year's election is quite surprising for young people who are voting for the first time, because it is not only choosing the presidential and vice-presidential candidates, but others as well. The public is given the right to vote to elect candidates for president and vice president, DPD, DPR and DPRD members at the provincial and district or city levels. In accordance with its main purpose, elections are used to provide opportunities for citizens to express their voting rights and choose leaders according to their own opinions, not only choosing because of the promises that the candidates will give when they are elected, but also need to look at the other side and not rely on the sweet promises of the candidates.

Argument 1:

First of all, it is important to note that during the campaign period various promises are made in order to attract the attention of voters and to gain their support. In this case, the public needs to be wise and intelligent in responding to these events so as not to be immediately swept away by their promises. It is known that the promises they make are often the inverse of the democratic process. People need to know the vision and mission of each candidate to know what plans the candidates have before voting.

Argument 2:

Candidates who give promises can be a basis for future voters who are entitled and included to know the quality of the candidates. If the candidate pairs have a strong track record in the past that they keep their promises, then it is certain that they will try hard to fulfill their campaign promises. But for example, it is said that they will reduce poverty and it turns out that when they come to power there is an economic crisis so it is difficult to realize the promise. If something like that happens, it could be because there are external factors that make it possible that it is not covered. Their quality here can determine whether they will actually fulfill their promises when elected or not. Finding important information about candidates in the past is very influential on people's lives from now to the future.

Argument 3:

We should already be aware of the political promises, because not all promises will be fulfilled and realized. It can also be said that promises are only calming sentences. The promises are just sweet words that they say but cannot be fulfilled. In other words, the promises are only their strategy to get votes and to be elected by people who do not know the flow and plans of the candidates. Our job here is to give the best vote and follow what our conscience says, it can also be seen that the candidates will continue in the footsteps of the previous president or will change everything with their new vision and mission.

Conclusion:

This world is full of promises, when people make promises, we believe and hope that those who promise will fulfill all their words, in fact not everything goes that way. Candidates must be ready to be responsible for their promises to the people if elected so that their trust will not be disappointed. We as citizens do not want to be deceived by the sweet promises they say, we must wisely manage and look for as many sources of information as possible, our job here is only to be strict voters and we must be able to ensure that their promises are not just sentences but there is real and realistic proof.
